Puppies
Our Breeding Program
Farm Rio Novo Cobberdogs has a few select litters per year that are carefully bred to meet breed standards for temperament, coat (fleece, non-shedding), and beauty. All breeding dogs in our program undergo genetic testing for common conditions such as hip dysplasia, cardiac and thyroid disease, among others. They are screened with x-ray and through the Paw Print Genetics Panel. Puppies are whelped and raised in our home surrounded by adults, children of all ages, and normal house hold noises and commotion. They are handled daily and screened for temperament traits from an early age. As such, while we allow for new family visits between five and six weeks, we will take into account each family’s needs when helping to choose the perfect puppy for their current life style.

Receive ongoing support over their life time
Cost:
Puppies for pet homes are $3500.00 which helps to support our mission of providing a comprehensive and holistic breeding program and therapy dog donation
Because Cobberdogs have been bred over multiple generations as the ideal therapy and service dog, we will periodically plan a free-of-cost pup to families in need of a dog able to be trained for service work (such as seizure detection, diabetes detection, autism support, formal therapy work in schools or institutions, etc.). If you are interested in being placed on the wait list for one of these dogs, please email us on our contact page with a couple of paragraphs regarding your family’s needs detailing both the type of support required as well as your plan for training. The wait list will be organized by acuity of need together with order of application receipt (top priority will go to children in need). If you are interested in more information on therapy/service training, see our resource page for links to area programs.
All puppies that go to a home for therapy or service work will undergo formal temperament testing to ensure to the best of our ability the most suitable pup from the litter for the work needed.
