About Us

We are a family of six: a midwife and a chef with four sons. We are from Vermont and Brazil (the name of our little farm is after a small town in Brazil) and deeply enjoy the company of animals, children, and all growing things. We began this journey with our first Cobberdog, Percy. She has been a brilliant pup who came into our home providing companionship both to her humans as well as to our aging yellow lab. We fell in love with the breed for their ability to connect deeply with their humans, their non-shedding hypoallergenic coat, and their incredible ability to provide the ideal skills for therapy and service work. We have since opened our home to two other Cobberdogs and have been inspired to continue the mission of this breed. Many years ago we raised a lab who went on to provide life saving service work as a seizure detection dog. He afforded his human a new level of freedom and quality to his life, and saved him on many occasions. We were so inspired by this endeavor and the ability of canines to improve the lives of their humans that we decided to make this a core part of our breeding program. Please see the Puppy Page for more information on our approach to providing dogs for this work to families in need.

ABOUT THE BREED

Cobberdogs originated in Australia and were bred over multiple generations to the breed standard that exists today. The original goal of the breed was to be an ideal, hypo-allergenic service dog with a balanced, friendly temperament with keen intelligence. Cobberdogs have plenty of energy for outdoor activities, active families, and endless adventures, but they are also able to settle in the house and love nothing more than laying next to their humans. They were originally called the Australian Labradoodle, but with the indiscriminate breeding that has been pervasive in the Doodle explosion it has been an important shift to rename the breed Cobberdog. Our program is registered with the American Cobberdog Club through which you will be able to register your puppy. We have chosen to focus on medium cobberdogs (about 35 lbs) as we have found that it is extremely well suited to all ages with its easy to manage size. They are sturdy enough for young children, but can be handled well by the very young, the very old, and everyone in between.

Cobberdogs come in the following colors: chocolate, caramel, apricot, red, cream, raven black, cafe, parchment, apricot cream
